Identification
Black and white plumage.
Distribution
Southern Philippines (Basilan, Dinagat and Mindanao).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
Formerly considered conspecific with Northern Silvery Kingfisher.
Habitat
Moist lowland forests and rivers.
Behaviour
It dives head first into water for small fish.
