Identification
18–21 cm (7-8¼ in)
Male has red mustache, black in female. A very variable species regarding darkness and shape of dark markings.
Distribution
Central and South America
Eastern Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, The Guianas, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil.
Taxonomy
Some authorities place this species in genus Chrysoptilus.
