Identification
Dark brown above and on crown, throat pale grey, darker grey on sides of head, neck and breast, belly buff. Bill and legs dark purplish red.
Length 25cm.
Distribution
Range Western Peru, Brazil south of the Amazon, eastern Bolivia, Paraguay and northern Argentina. Resident
Taxonomy
Subspecies Race inops is found in north-western Peru, peruviana in west-central Peru, lepidotus in north-east Brazil and nominate race in southern Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina.
Habitat
Scrub and open woodland.
