I==Identification==
Underside from chin to undertail coverts white but with greenish flecks on flank. Upperside green. Tail is bronzy-green with dark subterminal band (tail also dark from underside). There is a white post-ocular spot. Bill is red with dark culmen and small dark tip to lower mandible.
Female identical except for white tail corners
Distribution
Mexico to Guatemala, Belize, Honduras and Nicaragua; a few observations in Costa Rica. Two subspecies are found on the Caribbean side, the third on the Pacific slope.
Taxonomy
This species is sometimes placed in genus Agyrtria.
Subspecies
Three subspecies are recognized:
- A. c. genini
- Caribbean slope of se Mexico
- A. c. pacifica
- Pacific slope of se Mexico (Chiapas) to s Guatemala
- A. c. candida
- Humid se Mexico (Yucatán Pen.) to Belize and Nicaragua
Habitat
Dry or moist lowland forests.
