Kowa SV ii 8x25

8x25 compact roof prism binoculars
Manufacturer
Kowa

Item details

Pros:
- Good color representation
- Very little coma at the very edge
- Insignificant image fall off at edge of FOV
- Nice focus speed with no slack
- Feels well built in the hands
- Very low LCA across the whole field

Cons:
- Difficult eye placement (small exit pupil of course but also the eyecups don't extend far enough for me)
- Significant astigmatism (Or a diffraction spike... or prism edge in the optical path? I'm not sure what it is but it is large and noticeable with point-like light sources.
- Does not come with objective covers... a problem if you plan to just shove these in your pocket

Overall, these are quite nice for what they are...compact roof prism binoculars under $100. If you have a reason to go for a "pocket binocular" and want to spend a minimal amount of money this pair will please you.
