    Help for a lost young bird

    I just came home and there is a very young pied-billed grebe in my driveway. The area is no very hospitable for such a bird and I have no idea how it got here. The refuge is a good 3 miles away and it seems unable to fly yet. It won't let me get close enough to retrieve it. Any ideas?

    This was too big to be a pied-billed Grebe. Was definitely not a western or clarks. The best I can guess, it is a red breasted merganser, based almost entirely on the call.
