    Hi Robin James, welcome to Bird forum, hope you enjoy it here. Tree sparrows are one of the species that are increasing in numbers (albeit slowly) so they are probably common to your locality. Hopefully you will see more than one at your feeders soon.

    Pugney's Country Park is just off the M1 at junction 39, the A636 goes straight into Wakefield. Take the third exit at the second roundabout after leaving the motorway, for the country park. There is a small nature reaserve there with a hide.

    Juvenile sparrow in winter?!

    BWP lists April as the earliest for egglaying so would be extremely unusual to have a fresh juvenile at this time of year. The plumage looks a bit too old for a fresh juvenile, eye stripe too strong etc. Could well be a female fledged last year that is a bit smaller than the average.

    That is the normal appearance of the wings, hence the name twenty plumed moth.
