Is the 7D Mk 2 a significant upgrade?

Well if 10fps is not critical on your work then 5D3 might be a better buy, however if the former is important then you will not be disappointed with 7D2! I nearly bought one but I went 1D4 instead, I just need the Pro body return to my hands ;)

Canon EF 600mm f/4 DO BR lens

Won't surprised me if it cost close to 200-400mm f4L :p

    Canon 7dmk2 or canon 5dmk3

I'd probably upgrade to 7D2 first, as for 5D3, I'd consider to wait until 5D4 announcement or grab a 6D.

Canon 7D Mk ii image quality - what am I doing wrong?

I would consider to do static test shot, in your garden or somewhere you have plenty of distance to work with. Use a single subject and do few shots at different aperture and FL on your 150-600mm using single point centre. This is to confirm if your lens have back/front focus. If yes, then AFMA...

    Canon 7dmk2 or canon 5dmk3

    Yes, or a 7D mark 1, or the original 5D too or 40D :)

    Canon 7dmk2 or canon 5dmk3

Not much issues with the high ISO department with 7D2, you will be pleased with it... if you are considering 5D3, have you thought about 1D4? Or wait till summer when 1DxII announced and available, price of 1Dx will drop further...

    Canon 7dmk2 or canon 5dmk3

there's no right or wrong but i've been using 5D3 as my main camera for wildlife for good 2 years and i did not assume everyone is using this camera with 600mm or even 800mm ... i do agree 5d3 is lacking on freeze the action however this is something i could live it... i also shoot manual...

    Canon 7dmk2 or canon 5dmk3

The only two things I find missing on my 5D3 is the FPS and buffer rate... in which 7D2 excel on this area. I've rented 7D2 for a week and found the camera is very good, the files are good to work with! Extra reach helped on the small subjects. But the 5D3 being FF sensor, the files are just...

    Full frame query.

I've been using 5D3 as my primary camera for all albeit using it more for wildlife photography. I would say its limitation is the FPS that it offers. Although at times I wish I had faster FPS which is the major downside for 5D3, however I have use this limitation as my learning curve of...

Tamron SP 150-600mm F5-6.3 DI IF VC USD

The static test between these 2 lenses has conclude that the Canon is sharper and has better contrast than then Tamron. Note that even on the corner, the Canon is much better in terms of sharpness and no vignetting. That doesn't mean the Tamron is not good, it is one hell of lens given the zoom...

    400 f2.8 and 500 f4

Hi Mike, would be better if you had any friends who owns telephoto white primes and tried it out on the field, decide which one you prefer based on performance, weight, size, easy to carry, monies, etc... I never had any experiences with big white telephoto lenses but what I did is instead of...
