    El Cope (Panama) in January

I really want to help you with this, but I've never been there. I've visited Panama 3 times for intensive birding trips. I am quite familiar with El Valle de Anton, Altos Del Maria, and Pipeline Rd. / Gamboa / Soberania. I've birded those three areas in January and February. If I were in your...

Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio VS. Carara National Park

Hello. I am staying in the central south Pacific coast near Quepos/Manuel Antonio for 8 days. I was wondering if there is a big difference between Carara and Manuel Antonio in terms of the usual bird species you might see. I would like to get as many birds as I can, but was thinking of booking a...

    Cuban Trogon Near Cayo Coco?

Thanks for this. It looks like some of the people reporting on ebird saw the Cuban Trogon in the Cayo Coco area. Glad to see that their range goes out beyond the mainland. :t:

    Cuban Trogon Near Cayo Coco?

I'm going to Cayo Coco next week. I would love to see the Cuban Trogon, but I am wondering if it is possible to see them on the Cays? Do I have to get myself to the mainland to in order to see one or does their range stretch to the Cayo Coco area? Your comments are welcomed. Thanks

Visiting DR in January - Puerto Plata

Niels, Thanks for responding. Many people who've birded DR (outside of this forum) recommend birding in the South West hotspots. I get it, but I am convinced that I'll get 20-30 life birds despite not being in the sexiest region. I have my bird guide, I am listening to the calls, and I should...

Visiting DR in January - Puerto Plata

I will be staying with family at an all-inclusive, but intend on doing as much birding as possible. Can anyone recommend any sites near-by. I realize a lot of tours are done around SW Dominican Republic, but can I expect to see some interesting Caribbean / Dominican endemics near Puerto Plata...

Visiting Costa Rica in Mar/Apr (Caribbean side). Best Places?

I would be interested in taking a day trip from our destination, but not so interested in going a long way through 4-wheel terrain. Is there elevations to travel to within a couple of hours that are worth seeing in the area? Any recommendations?

Visiting Costa Rica in Mar/Apr (Caribbean side). Best Places?

This is great. I'm overwhelmed. Thanks everyone. This looks more promising than I would have imagined. I did some birding in Panama in the Soberania and Anton (cloud forest) regions. A lot of the birds listed will be life for me. All the best

Visiting Costa Rica in Mar/Apr (Caribbean side). Best Places?

I'll be staying at a Villa not too far from Limon in an area called Punta Uva beach near Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge. Has anyone done any birding in that area? Are there other must see birding spots within a couple of hours drive?

    Travel Shots for Panama (immunization)

i got travel shots for the first time i visited Panama. the Canadian Gov. recommends this before traveling to Panama. unfortunately the advice that was given to my family and the amount of shots we took seemed over-the-top. the other thing was that Panamanian Customs didn't seem to care whether...
