Thanks. I did email the address but it bounced back.

    Zeiss Service

Can anyone recommend a Zeiss approved business that can service a Zeiss BGAT P* 10x40 in the UK? It’s in excellent condition, not the focus is ever so slightly sticky when fine focusing. Anyway, it could probably do with a service to keep it in good condition.

    Zeiss Dialyt Year of Manufacture

I heard back from Zeiss. The pair are from 1993. They are mint condition. I paid £450. They should arrive today or tomorrow.

    Zeiss BGAT 10x40

I know a bit more about the condition of the phase corrected pair. They have a number of scratches on the eyepieces and objective lenses, which, allegedly, don’t impact on the view. I can’t decide if I should go for these or the far better condition 1986 non phase coated pair.

Thoughts on Opticron Aurora BGA VHD

I tried them and liked them a lot. I would choose these over the Zeiss Conquest HD 8x42 for the wider field of view. The model I tried had sticking focusing.

    Zeiss BGAT 10x40

Thank you. I love the look of Them and as long as they are still decent I’d love to own a pair. There’s a lovely condition non-phase corrected pair for £349 and a phase corrected pair in poorer condition for the same price rice. Any advice on which one to go for?

    Zeiss BGAT 10x40

Anyone know anything about the eye relief?
  15. P

    Zeiss BGAT 10x40

I have always liked these binoculars. Are they still decent in this day and age? What is the eye relief like for spectacle wearers? Is there a huge difference between the phase coated and the Non-phase coated? Many thanks for helping me decide if I should buy this legend or not.

Unboxing Opticron’s New Flagship Binoculars: Aurora BGA VHD 8x42

Do you think the diameter of the glass in the eyepiece makes a difference?

Unboxing Opticron’s New Flagship Binoculars: Aurora BGA VHD 8x42

No, Lee, it makes sense completely. I struggle a lot with eye positioning and dislike tight eye relief. 20mm in theory should be ideal, but I’ve found placement right on binoculars with more. For example, I think the old Imagic BGA SE 10x42 had 21mm of eye relief but I found them very tight...

Unboxing Opticron’s New Flagship Binoculars: Aurora BGA VHD 8x42

Hi Lee, interesting you say that you had kidney beans when looking through. Does this mean that the eye relief was slightly too long and you had black outs? That’s not a criticism - I prefer too long!

    Verano BGA VHD Now Available

Unfortunately they are being picked up for return tomorrow. There was one inch foreign body in the right ocular. Not impressed at the QC.

Rough and dirty Hawke 8x42 APO review

Sorry Ratal, I feel like I’m stalking you but I assure you that’s not the case! I tried an APO a few weeks ago and I wasn’t at all impressed. I wasn’t impressed with sharpness, brightness or contrast. A friend (Swarovski Man) and i spent some time trying them out and comparing them to a £379...

Review of Opticron Aurora BGA VHD 8x42

I had the Trinovid years ago and liked it a lot. In fact, at one point I had it alongside the Ultravid HD + (what was I thinking ?) and I tried, but failed, to see any discernible difference. I think if it’s very close between the two then, for me, the Aurora would win for that huge field of view.

Quick & dirty review of 8x42 Opticron Aurora.

Yes of course. However, perhaps a little humility wouldn’t go amiss. Take a leaf out of some of the other guys reviews. What people want is helpful comments not sentimental gush. Keep it in perspective. It’s only a binocular, not the love of your life.

Review of Opticron Aurora BGA VHD 8x42

Excellent review. Would you choose the Aurora over the Trinovid?

Quick & dirty review of 8x42 Opticron Aurora.

I’m finding the comments from the OP a bit OTT. I don’t doubt this is a top class binocular but this OTT lavish praise is off putting.
