    Well, I've found I get more or less the same without either converter, ie with the bare 300mm and the OM1 set to C-AF, 4m-infinity, smallest focusing square and bird recognition on or off, it won't autofocus from close to far in one go and it's reluctant to focus from far to close in one go, so...

    My OM1 + 300mm + 2x is the same: at least in poorish light it won't autofocus from close to distant in one jump without a nudge (ie by quickly helping it to the right ball park with manual focus or focussing on an intermediate distance first). Once in the right ball park - close or far - it does...

    Doesn't it just disable autofocus while you are holding it down, so it doesn't matter if it brushes against your leg while walking?

    For what it's worth, I've had the OM1 + 300 f4 + 1.4x + 2x for a month or so now and I'm using it all the time with the 2x, so much so that I haven't even tried it yet with the 1.4x which remains completely unused (though I'm saving it for if ever I get the 150-400).

    The one I got is advertised as 2000 mAh. I didn't notice it at the time, but this is slightly less capacity than the OM one. It works fine, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for that reason.

    Just got my cheap third party battery (off Amazon) even though they said (after I'd ordered it) that it wouldn't arrive for another month. It seems absolutely fine, except that I now notice it's 2000mAh whereas the Olympus one in 2280mAh, so it'll presumably only last 88% as long for each...

    The cheap JJC charger is fine, if a bit slow. It takes 4 hours plus to charge the battery from well down. It shows how the charge is progessing and it's supposed to cut off when fully charged to prevent over-charging.

    No, I thought it was coming Amazon Prime next day delivery, but when my order had gone through they said August sometime. I've now got an Olympus battery that's been dispatched by T4 Cameras and should arrive on Monday.

    Only just got my OM1 and don't know what I'm doing yet, but, yes, used that; nice to christen it with a local Night Heron. Canons & Sony put aside for the moment....

    I just used my phone cable to attach my OM1 to my PC. Worked fine to do the update to firmware 1.1.

    Sadly not, though really I'd like to make sure I like the OM1 before I spend that amount of money... Actually, OM UK were going to lend me one and an OM1 to test - until they realised that they hadn't got either either and little chance of getting them either!

    Thanks again. I'm currently still waiting to see if an R7 turns up, but definitely looking at possibly moving to Olympus instead. So the Oly 300mm f4 prime can be used well with either a 1.4x or a 2x converter. Interesting... Atmospherics aside, would you say there is a noticeable drop in...
