    Peregrine Falcons site

Just started working in Leigh this year and as I'm a keen birder I'll keep my eyes open. I was looking at the main large Mill building earlier in the season but so far haven't see any Peregrines. Used to work in Liverpool and there were a couple of pairs that I used to see there on a regular basis.

    Bald eagles in FL

Hi Take a look at this website which is freely available and in the public domain. https://public.myfwc.com/fwri/eaglenests/nestlocator.aspx#search It lists all the Bald Eagle nests over a large area of Florida and lets you know about known occupation over recent years when particular areas...

    Buzzard takes Oprey chick, Scotland.

Hi Irish Kite. Spot on with your comments as usual. Buzzards are oportunists like all birds of prey and will from time to time take items of prey that may surprise us. I have seen one pluck a young Magpie from a group of about 6 birds gathered together in a tree before any of them saw it...

RSPB stunned by Defra plan to 'imprison' buzzards (RSPB)

What are you prattling on about? Mark Avery's blog is informative, well written, balanced and witty. His overall knowledge of conservation matters in the UK is probably without equal. May I suggest you subscribe, then perhaps you could offer more of an educated and balanced argument than the...

RSPB stunned by Defra plan to 'imprison' buzzards (RSPB)

"No matter what we conservationists think, shooting is a big rural industry and a general 'protector' of habitat" You're having a laugh!

RSPB stunned by Defra plan to 'imprison' buzzards (RSPB)

Excellent article, and one of many by Mark Avery in his blog regarding this idiotic study organised by DEFRA and funded by the taxpayer. http://markavery.info/2012/05/29/buzzards-2/

RSPB stunned by Defra plan to 'imprison' buzzards (RSPB)

Thought that would rattle your cage! The impact of Pheasants on the shooting industry should not be paid for by the taxpayer. It is a subject of commercial interest to a few rich toffs – it is not about conserving this countries native fauna. Let them pay for it, they still seem to have most...

RSPB stunned by Defra plan to 'imprison' buzzards (RSPB)

"It is as outrageous as it is incredible that the Wildlife minister, wealthy landowner and keen shot Richard Benyon, has sanctioned the blasting to bits of buzzards' nests in the interests of the owners of pheasant-shooting estates. It is no part of the brief of the minister responsible for...

Sparrowhawks responsible for House Sparrow decline says scientist

[Should Bell be silenced/ignored/vilified/laughed at?] I'd go for ignored or laughed at.

RSPB stunned by Defra plan to 'imprison' buzzards (RSPB)

Trystan, May I respectfully suggest that Pheasant shoot owners work on ways in which reduce Pheasant collisions with cars, and DEFRA get back to doing what they ought to be doing which is protecting this countries native species, not persecuting them!

Common Kestrel Feeding on House Sparrows

Very interesting Chris. I assume that this Kestrel will continue to hunt Sparrows in this way. More like the hunting method used by the Eurasian Sparrowhawk than that of the Kestrel.

Buzzard Persecution Trial to be sponsored by DEFRA

DEFRA in Disgrace. The recent news that DEFRA is fund a study looking at ways to limit the effects that the Common Buzzard MAY have on the pheasant populations with £375,000 of taxpayers money is a national disgrace. Please have a look at the following websites and blogs detailing this...

Must be one of the worst places in England for raptor persecution. The shooting fraternity have a lot to answer for in robbing us all of our natural heritage.

    Game for a Laugh!

If any of you are interested in having a good laugh, take a look at the Chairman’s Blog on the Scottish Gamekeepers Association website. It would appear that Alex Hogg is the most delusional of his kind, but unfortunately his views are shared by far too many of the shooting fraternity. This is...

    peregrine falcon on liverpool cathedral

Hi They have nested before on the Anglican Cathedral that I know of, and one young Peregrine was rung. This was quite a few years ago. At least 10 years ago I think. I am not sure about recent history though. They nest in Birkenhead, and elsewhere in Liverpool too.
