    Agree with the first 2 RJP, but that is a very dark cap for a nashville, not that I am sure anything else matches (as everything else is a shoe in) Was that last photo underexposed then brightened? AS it looks from the light as if the top of the head might of been in shadows.

    1/1600 is good for big birds, small birds I'd suggest faster, swallows I find 1/3200 is pretty solid (swallow are a special kind of fun when you land a shot). I don't know the rotor speed of the helicopter so cannot comment as to whether that is appropriate or not. F.7.1 at 400mm still...

    That is fair, although I haven't seen any abuse of those trails by others. Trails would need to be single footpath, not wide enough for benches and natural. Anything other than that (the high capacity trails, bike paths, etc) is quite the abomination in my mind. Too destructive.

    Looks fine to me, Your shutter looks to have been a touch slow to freeze motion so rotor bolts will be tricky to use as a reference.

    I was at Colonel Sam's yesterday afternoon. If you know the area I can point you to the spot pretty easily. There were a pair of Least Sandpiper also. That place has been very good to me some days, being my first migration I'm up to 35 lifers, 22 from there.

    No beard so yes, I would guess hen. There are a couple flocks around here in Southern ontario. One in Courtright, another in Oshawa that I know of. I have been meaning to get out and watch the males display, but have not yet.

    EOS utility 3 was available on the 12th, and per the PDF instructions lets you skip that silly step, doing that now as I cannot find my old card reader. Edit: new DPP also, so full suite.
