    Feather ID, Aberdeen

Ah nice! Better than a Pheasant that's for sure. Plenty Woodcock in those woods this winter so I probably should've guessed that's what it'd be. Cheers all!

    Feather ID, Aberdeen

I did look at Pheasant briefly and sort of pushed that thought aside hoping it wasn't something so mundane haha

    Feather ID, Aberdeen

Picked this up when setting up hairtraps for Red Squirrels in Tyrebagger Forest, just outside Aberdeen, Scotland. Any help much appreciated!

A-ha, cheers! I obviously didn't look at Buzzard very well.

    Feather ID, Aberdeen

I found this feather stuck to the twig of a Downy Birch in the middle of a conifer plantation in West Woods, near Bucksburn, Aberdeen. I've tried Tawny owl, Buzzard, Pheasant, Woodcock but still not sure what it's from, any ideas?

    The Magic Roundabout

Nice round-up of the magic of the Magic Roundabout in all it's glory! Spring isn't far away, hope it's at least nearly as fruitful as this quarter has been! All the best for 2016 :)

    Lothian Birding

You too Geoff, turns out I missed a call from James (either before or after seeing you) to tell me the Kingfisher was back in the same place it was last spotted! Only saw I had a missed call once I got back home, by which time the bird had left. It must be there more often, and must be using...

    Lothian Birding

Quite a sizeable mixed flock of Feral Pigeons, Starlings, Redwings, Fieldfare and other thrushes in the field by Liberton Tower. Also a nice flock of finches, mainly Linnets, but have also picked out at least 1 Tree Sparrow and plenty Chaffinches. Suspect there's Brambling amongst them too...

    The Magic Roundabout

The shear variety of birds you get at the Magic Roundabout is just awesome. I've also not commented much recently (college work and such) but just had a good read and catch-up on what you've had over the past month or so. Nice work Mike :)

    Birds fae Torry

In a cold few hours in the afternoon I had 1 Great Northern Diver flying past from in front of the lighthouse, 1 Snow Bunting in the puddly car park, several Black-throated and Red-throated Divers, the Goldeneye, Common Scoter and Knot that you've mentioned, Andrew, and also a strange male Eider...

Are you allowed into the allotments without owning any or are the Black Redstarts being seen through the fence?

    Birds fae Torry

I have subscribed to the ABZ email group now :) Will remember to send any sightings to the group in the future. Very happy with those 2 buntings! I was hoping to get Jack Snipe (managed) and Snow Bunting on my life list on that trip, but got Lapland instead. Not complaining...

    Birds fae Torry

Had 1 Jack Snipe and 2 Lapland Buntings in the puddly car park at Girdle Ness yesterday afternoon, plus a Short-eared Owl in-off, plenty Redwings, Fieldfare and actually a lot more Blackbirds than other thrushes. 1 Woodcock came in-off and landed in the vegetation by the radar tower (I think...

    The Magic Roundabout

Days like those are great aren't they? Nice finds, and I wonder what that 150th bird for The Magic Roundabout will be!

    The Magic Roundabout

Awesome, looks like that golf course is not going down without putting on a good show before doing so. Nice shot of the LRP!

1 high and south over Edinburgh late afternoon.

    The Magic Roundabout

Nice record with the Daurian Starling! And looks like an awesome day of birding too, I guess where you're positioned at the airport means you get a lot of passage migrants through? More than is usual for other parts of Hong Kong?

Last Swift of the year ...

1 Swift over Edinburgh late afternoon today, 2 over yesterday.

    The Magic Roundabout

I must have checked this thread just before you posted, thought it was about the right time for migrants to be appearing :) looking forward to the coming weeks, and hopefully something delays development of the golf course!

    Mallorca 2015

Of course! Got all my notes written in my notebook, will try to have it written fairly soon once I'm back home :) I'll post a link here in case people want to see what I've been up to the past 9 days!

    Mallorca 2015

Cheers both, knew I'd be very lucky to see White-headed Duck, shame they haven't settled in a bit better at s'Albufera. I'll pop out to the fields before the Boquer Valley after lunch. But so far I've had 35 ticks :) love Mallorca and I'm sure I'll be back!
