    Last 2 from Gomera 19

I am thinking here a Berthelot Pipit and 2 Rock Doves. Is this correct. Thank you for any help. The forum has been excellent at helping me learn how to identify birds so much appreciated.

Birds of Prey La Gomera Dec 19

Thanks . I thought the wings on the first one were too broad for a kestrel, the body wider and the markings darker ?

Gulls - La Gomera Dec 19

Is one a tallow legged gull, but the flying ones and the dotted ones I do not know, maybe all the same but just at different stages of their development ?

Birds of Prey La Gomera Dec 19

First two were the same bird. Drifted around rather than hovered then swooped, elanora's falcon or common kestrel. Not sure of the other two.

Just enlarged the photo so hopefully this may help. I though it was too small for a grey wagtail and it has a white bib, not black.

    La Gomera Bird Dec 19

I have just taken this in La Gomera. Quite a large bird and no white stripe over the ye so I have discounted a wheatear, as the ones I have seen are only half this bird, and I thought of an Iberian Magpie but the bill looks too narrow ! Sorry ! Can someone enlighten me please

Red kite this time ? - Lincolnshire uk 2019

Thanks Stuart. If I had seen the first bird on its own I would probably have said a buzzard but with the other being a kite I took the simple but wrong option ! Do they often fly together or would it have been an unwanted coming together ? I have never seen a buzzard in the same sky as a kite...

Red kite this time ? - Lincolnshire uk 2019

I just posted a red kite picture which turned out to be a buzzard which I thought it may have been . The reason I said kite is that this bird was in the sky at the same time. Is this a red kite and if so is it common for them to share the same air space ? It's tail looks long. Or is it another...

    Rhodes Bird July 19

I posted this a week or so ago and have found a couple more photos. Still not much clearer. Is it still a case of photos not showing enough. Terrain was on a mountain slope, inland, no water, a few shrubs and small trees

    Rhodes July 19 - 3 ids

Sparrows seem to take so many shades and colours but is one a female or juvenile house sparrow. Then the other 2 birds were flying over Lindos Bay. The odd couple. One looked like a feral dove or pigeon but the other a bird of prey ?

Birds on the water in Rhodes Jul 19

On Lake Apolakkia I spotted these. Was hoping to see a purple heron but I think this is a grey? Is the grebe a great crested ? I think the other is a cormorant but I have never seen such a white underbelly before. Is this an age or sub species reason?

Game Bird in Rhodes July 19

I did post one bird a few days ago but have some more pictures now. Can we say this is a Chukar ? I have based it on the smallish white area on the neck and the lack of a white stripe over the eye.

    Falcon in Rhodes Jul 19

One reason I did not think it was a kestrel is that all the kestrels I have seen in the UK have either been perched or hovering fairly close to the ground. This bird soared along the cliff line and above it then dived very fast. It also seemed a bit bigger than a kestrel
