    Texel

A good day today with very obliging Rustic Bunting below Lighthouse. Lots of common migrants. Also one Osprey to the south and a probable Eurasian Treecreeper this morning (heard only) - is rare here.

    Fox noises

It sounds more confrontational than amorous so territorial is probably nearer the mark. I know the blood curdling call of the vixen and the stifled yelp/bark of the fox so I guess it's two males scrapping. Thanks A

    Fox noises

Almost nightly for the last few weeks I am woken by foxes making the most atrocious noises at about 3am. Because it's so dark outside my bedroom I can't see anything. They make sort of squealing, yelping, gurgling noises for about 20 minutes then disappear. Occasionally they come back. What...

    What's this accipiter?

This came to me a few days ago. My first thoughts were Goshawk but I'm not 100% and think it might be hybrid/exotic. Would appreciate comments. The observer says it was distinctly bigger than Sparrowhawk. It would be an extremely unusual record for the area. Genuine records away from the...

Status of Black Kite in Denmark?

I had a Black Kite at Ribe in the south of Jutland on Friday afternoon. Scoped it for several minutes. I can't find much info on the status of this species in Denmark. Does anyone have any data? Fugle.dk is mainly in Danish so not much help there.

Can't ID this one - UK

Presumably even brown means no barring - but what else can it be other than a Wren?

    Nightingale in Fife????

Duncandangie described the song as melodious, which would rule out Black Redstart.

    Nightingale in Fife????

I don't think there's ever been a Nightingale in the UK at this time of the year? I had a Robin singing in poor light on the way to work this last week and the red wasn't visible. The human eye can't detect colour in very poor light or darknes.

Willow or Marsh Tit Please?, Thoresby Hall, Nottinghamshire

Marsh is by far the commoner of the two species in this area.

    Is this a Pipit?

The right hindclaw doesn't look that short, although it looks covered in mud, maybe foreshortening it to the eye?

    Mystery Bird

You wouldn't find it on Google because it is a selectively bred 'sport'. Feral Pigeon is probably the most variable species in tbe world and can look like other dove/pigeons, raptors, waders, game birds and almost anything else except a Dalmatian Pelican.

    Finch/Bunting

It seems to me that id'ing birds from photos is a skill all on its own.
