    Help with Pipits - UK

I'm inclined to agree with Alexander, Pipit B could be a Rock Pipit. In addition to the points already made, the bill looks better for Rock and the hind claw looks normal size (compare with Pipit E photo)! Shane

    Paphos this am any ideas?

Earlier this month, an unfortunate holiday maker from Shropshire was bitten by a Blunt-nosed Viper in the grounds of her Paphos hotel, she spent 4 days in the hospital ICU!

    Paphos this am any ideas?

No, it's not a constrictor but instead grabs large prey which it forces against the ground to cause asphyxiation. Incidentaly, Blunt-nosed Vipers are on its list of prey!

    Rare(?) Orchid, Cyprus

Hi Andy I just did the same as Jos and googled Cyprus orchids. If you check this site out https://www.flora-of-cyprus.eu/cdm_dataportal/taxon/2432802c-09ea-4529-97e6-3dbcbb36f5b9 you will see that it is found all over Cyprus below 175mts apart from the Troodos area. Unfortunately, it doesn't...

    Rare(?) Orchid, Cyprus

Hi Andy Looking through George Konstantinou's Biodiversity of Cyprus site, it does look like Anacamptis sancta and according to cyprustravel.org it is very common! How true that is I have no idea? Shane

    Lizard ID? - Cyprus

They can look impressive when clinging to the side of a house but they only grow up to 38cm, not the 2ft or so the OP mentioned. Shane

    Lizard ID? - Cyprus

No, my guess would be a captive one that has escaped. There are usually the odd one or two down at the Paphos harbour where the owner is trying to milk gullible visitors for photographs with the creature! Shane

    Upgrading cameras

Hi In the absence of any other comments yet, here are my thoughts! I upgraded from the 7D mk1 to the R7 and was amazed at the improvements, especially for the price and am very happy with the camera. According to Canon Rumours (if you believe in those), the new Canon flagship camera will be...

R7 for bird photography and birds in flight

Some interesting comments on the settings people use! In addition to birds, I take a lot of dragonfly & butterfly photos as well. With dragonflies in particular, I have found that the maximum aperture of the R100-500 produces too little dof which results in wing tips being out of focus if...

R7 for bird photography and birds in flight

Hi Mike I agree with Roy C and use similar settings. A few examples are shown below, the last one of the Common Kestrel was today, selected from about 80 photos taken over 3 minutes. None of which were out of focus but were rejected for composition issues like head position, etc. All I can say...

    Canon RF 200-800mm IS USM

The combo works very well but the only problem I have really encountered is when photographing birds in the sky for example. The field of view is so narrow at 500mm that if you don't nail the subject in the view finder straight away, then you struggle to work out if you are looking above, below...

    Do you think there'll be a R7 MK2

Will there be an upgrade ............ most probably, will it be in the next 9-12 months ................ who knows but you can currently buy an R7 body for less than £1,000 which is a bargain? Can't comment on the 1D3 but I upgraded from a 7Dmk1 to the R7 and was amazed at the improvements! Shane
