    Brisbane Birding Groups

See my thread further down this part of the forum. There was at least one Brisbane based guide who posted in there. Just back from Brisbane myself (similar timeframe too) & can say you will not be disappointed

    A couple of Scythebill problems

Related to the Mammal Watching list, is there any way of adding mammals to it to record? I've just come back from Australia, and spent a few days on K'gari where there are pure-breed Dingos - when I go to record Dingo in the sightings I only get the option of recording "Domestic Dog"

Exploring Sydney - and further afield.

Just got back from Sydney but didn't have much chance to bird in the area as we were settling our daughter into accommodation at MacQuarie University. We did however go out for one day with a guide to Kangaroo Valley for an evening with Wombats. Bonus Red-bellied Black snake at Carrington Falls...

HI Tom, Thanks for the reply - I'll bear it mind, but our time in Brisbane is sorted I think. Trip report will prove very useful though.

Updated Canon R & RF Kit Lineup ..!

Start posting some photos taken with, not of, all this kit. Until then, no-one cares

    RFI - Brisbane (& beyond)

The trip is getting closer now and we're starting to firm up plans for trips out with various guides. The one part of the trip I'm having problems with is the week in Airlie Beach for proper wildlife orientated trips - I've found a crocodile safari day trip, but everything else that comes up is...

    Griswold’s Vacations 2023

Aylesbeare would be next on my list of places to stop off at when we do the run down to Plymouth Uni. Already got Cirls by doing quick stop-offs, so a Dartford would be very welcome :)

    Eilat.....

Fascinating read. Coincidentally a friend of mine (Mark Pearson from YCN) is out there right now guiding with Yoav Perlaman and taking part in the Champions of the Flyaway.

Disappearing Into Finnair: Finland 2022, birds, butterflies, dragonflies and big predators

That'd be Hide 13 then (or the coffin!!) I was literally 2 weeks behind you this year & did the same drive to & from Helsinki thanks to DAT airlines pulling out of their internal routes 2 days before we flew over (I only found out by pure chance) Bear Center is a fantastic place - this year...

    Griswold’s Vacations 2023

See they've not changed the rules from when we were there back in 2014 - no dogs on the way up but you can come back down on the railway with dogs - seems a strange rule. My missus still hasn't forgiven me for having to walk up with the dogs :)

    RFI - Brisbane (& beyond)

Possibly, my son has an eye on a guided trip that goes to that area specifically for platypus. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Delia, We'll be in Dakabin, but will have a car so should be able to get around.

We now have a plan :) Arrive on 17th December & staying with family in Brisbane until 2nd Jan. Exploring Sydney - and further afield.

Glad I've found this post. Now following with interest as I hope to be in Sydney for a few days this time next year (as part of a longer Aus trip) & looking to do some initial research.

    RFI - Brisbane (& beyond)

Hopefully my wife & I will be visiting Brisbane (initially) at Christmas 2023/New Year 2024 whilst our kids are studying there for a year. The plan is to spend 6 weeks over there. We have a fairly loose plan just now, with stays in Brisbane mainly, but potential excursions to GBR & a few days...

    RFI - Paphos (December)

Just a quick follow up to this one (as I'm sat on the balcony waiting to return home) What a stunning day out I had with Matt this week. 63 species in the day including 12 lifers for me. Got all the targets I was hoping for (other than Black Francolin). Wasn't able to get to sites for...

    Sanday, September 16th - 23rd.

The Fin Whales were spotted by a friend of mine who owns one of the dive charters. They were dropping divers on one of the German wrecks when a whale surfaced about 100m away apparently. Could have made an interesting H&S report :)

    Freya

Unfortunately not - would have had the same outcome. I had the same conversation about relocating with the volunteers when I went to see Wally in Tenby. The decision over Freya is disgraceful.
