Female Grouse but which species? Cairn Gorm, Scotland

Only saw her. Would have been even more amazing if there had been chicks |:D| but I wouldn't have been happy about stopping the car if there had been.

Female Grouse but which species? Cairn Gorm, Scotland

Whilst on holiday in the Highlands last week, on the way back from a view point near the top of Cairn Gorm, this Grouse casually strolled across the road. At first I thought it was a female Red Grouse but it isn't red in the slightest, also ruled out Capercaillie which leaves , Ptarmigan and...

Anybody..still got Redpolls on their feeders?

I'm not sure if I have a breeding population near me but there's certainly the right habitat near-by, so I was wondering if they're maybe off establishing territories or maybe there is just plenty natural food available now although having said that, there was a female appeared at the Niger Seed...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Feeders have been busier these last couple of days, and earlier on this evening I had a brief visit from a Male Sparrowhawk, I was in the kitchen making dinner and was about to roll down the blind (sun blazing through the window) and glanced at the spot I'd seen the SH before and there he was, I...

Need Help! Loud Bird Driving Me Nuts!

Definately sounds like a Peacock to me too. Could the honking/gargling sound be something else, perhaps a Peahen?

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Garden's getting very quiet now, even though there's still food in the feeders out there, must be plenty of natural stuff out there for them. Yesterday saw 2 Starlings, 1 Dunnock, 6 House Sparrows, 1 Female Chaffinch, 1 Blue Tit and 2 Female Redpolls (they were very early on though). Today, so...

    Lothian Birding

It was T-shirt weather here in Penicuik too yesterday. Spent a good few hours out in the garden watching the Blue Tits, and House Sparrows whilst gardening. Around about lunch time heard a Song Thrush, only the second time I've heard one round here, hope it wasn't just passing through. Another...
