    And then came the Sunday. Early out - no Eagle Owl so up the mountain. No Citril Finch no this no that argh! On parking the car caught a tail end of a Black Woodpecker calling in the distance. A great sign. Up and down and along and back along the tracks to finally get a pair of Black Woods...

    Quite a lot of those birds possible around Helsinki... Viiki (Citrine Wagtail) for example is a big reserve but there are others. Owls in July not that easy - young have fledged etc etc Some finns may reply on here but have a look at birding pal - there may be someone there willing to help...

    Depends on the crossing eg. Col D'Aubisque closed Col Tourmalet closed I would guess all the major France Spain crossings are open though

    Roads are perfectly clear although snow is predicted this week - that said the snow will be gone within a day due to the high temperature of the roads... Some of the mountain passes are still closed though.
