    Mew Gull in Connecticut?

Thanks guys. I should have stuck with my gut. When I first saw the bird I dismissed it as a Ring-billed. But the more I looked at it, the more I thought it didn't quite look right. It seemed a bit small and dainty to me. It's been a long time since I've been out in the field birding so I...

    Mew Gull in Connecticut?

Actually my first thought when I saw the bird was Ring-billed. The more I looked at it I wasn't so sure. It struck me as smaller / daintier than a Ring-billed. I took the pictures so I'd have something to use for an ID once I got home to my Sibley's field guide. I haven't been out birding much...

    Mew Gull in Connecticut?

I saw this gull while birding at Hammonasset Beach State Park. It looks like a first summer Mew Gull to me. But when I check the range maps for CT it would be a rare bird for the state.

    Castaway Cay, Bahamas

Wow 100 views and no one to venture an ID. I believe the first bird is a Palm Warbler. Still seeking confirmation or an ID on the 2nd bird.

Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas Birds

Last one. I think this is a Brown-crested Flycatcher. This bird was seen in Quimixto, a small village near Puerto Vallarta.

Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas Birds

4)Not 100% sure but I think this is a Pink-footed Shearwater. Seen in the water near Cabo San Lucas. The bird had a pink, black tipped bill. 5)I have no idea. I saw this bird while we were at sea. Somewhere between Los Angeles and Cabo San Lucas. The bird was sitting on the water when I...

Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas Birds

Just got home from a Disney Cruise to Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas. I've been able to ID most of my photos but I need help and/or confirmation on a few of them. 1) I'm pretty sure this is an Orange-fronted Parakeet.

    Alaska / Canada Gulls

Lou thanks for all your help. The Glaucous Gull's upperparts were very pale grey. They look bleached out in the photos because the gull was quite a distance from the ship. The first image shows the grey on the upperparts best.

Misc. birds from Alaska / Canada

These shearwater photos were taken on a different day then the above ones. Not sure if these are also Sooty's (if my ID above was correct). These ones have a different pattern on their wings and the center photo seems to show more white under the wing.

Misc. birds from Alaska / Canada

I believe these are all Sooty Shearwaters. They appear to have a longish bill.

Misc. birds from Alaska / Canada

Another lousy photo. These birds were pretty far from the ship and flying away. White-winged Scoters??

Is this a female Common Merganser. Yes it's a lousy photo.

Misc. birds from Alaska / Canada

At first I thought this was a Pacific Loon due to range and the pale gray nape. After looking at Sibley's it describes Arctic Loon being distinguished from all other loons by white patch on flanks which this bird seems to show. Is this a Pacific Loon or could it be an Arctic Loon?

Misc. birds from Alaska / Canada

More birds seen on my Alaska Cruise. All of them seen in either Canada or Alaska (Inside Passage). I think these are Marbled Murrelets.
