    No more Kerso

I see Kerso has stopped trading. The flashcamera website says due to family circumstances. Don't know how long that has been the case but very sad news and whatever has happened I hope Ian pulls through it all ok. You were a great help to us all on the UK camera scene and a true gentleman. :t:

Canon 7D Mk II is announced and available for pre-order

Does anyone know if it has the built in HDR feature and if it's JPEG only like the 6D or can do full RAW like the 5DMKIII?

    Feeling Rich?

I suppose it begs the question, MPB being a s/h dealer and all, what did he pay and what the hell was he thinking? lol

    Feeling Rich?

Never mind a pop-up hide imagine taking it out to a proper bird hide on a reserve! You'd feel the collective power of the intense hatred from regular birders coupled with the insane jealousy of other photographers. Mr L G R Evans may well have to step down as the no.1 most maligned person in the...

    Canon 2.0TC Mk11 vs Mk111

So now some enough time has passed by for those who have made the switch to use the MKIII more thoroughly in the real world, can I ask what their thoughts are? Cheers guys.

Best budget lens for dolphins at Chanonry Point.

Canon 55-250mm IS or 70-300mm USM IS. Maybe the 3rd party 70-300mm's too but don't know how the latest models they compare these days.

    Portus digital

Almost certainly another one of the so-called Grey Importers or just an out and out scam is also possible. If its too good to be true.....

Lens Coat for 500mm F4 IS

There are alternatives available. Wildlife Watching Supplies make lens covers (also available on WEX) and Outdoor Photography Gear (just google) who were previously known as Stealth Wildlife.

CamBox was full yesterday and empty today?!

Hi and welcome to the Forum. Given the seriously odd weather going round the UK at the moment they might be struggling with their need to nest against their reaction to the weather. I wouldn't get too disheartened yet, it's still very early days and at least they know it's there.

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

I was just thinking today it would be nice to see a male Brambling at this time of year rather than the usual female that's been turning up and lo and behold..... ;) Also lots of Siskins again and the some of the males are looking absolutely stunning. Will have to put the hide out I reckon.

    Sigma 120-400 vs. 150-500 vs. Canon 70-200/4,0 L USM

You've have an open thread already discussing the same thing so its not really surprising no-one has replied here. Any replies to Johan's query should be posted to this thread http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=252575

A couple more Canons on the block.

The turnover of cameras in the budget segment is a ridiculous. You might buy a camera in that price range only to find a better one has come out in 12 months. Mar 2009 500D Feb 2010 550D Feb 2011 600D Jun 2012 650D Mar 2013 700D And yet the 7D was announced Sep 2009 and the new one has still...

Very busy at the bird feeder today!

Not had food to put out for a few weeks so was quite surprised that now I have put food out again to find the Brambling has actually been hanging around. Also a dozen or so Siskin.

    Are Bird Hides 'Uncomfortable' Places?

You can tell your wife that we all started somewhere and that even these days we may drop the odd clanger of an ID that makes us look like total dingbats in front of other birders but these things happen and 99% of birders I know (especially at 'said' reserve and 'said' hide ;) ) are more than...

    Extention tubes

200mm f2.8 L MKII + Ext tubes = killer combo and can get you very close (if not probs all the way) to 1:1 if used with stacked tubes. Although for dragonflies and the like which can be very skittish the extra reach of the 300mm will pay dividends but will not take stacked tubes as well owing to...

    Deterring Mallards from Garden Pond?

Can anyone suggest any ways to deter Mallards from coming into our garden ponds? Don't really want to get netting like you use to stop Herons as the garden birds need to use the ponds and likewise the frogs have to be able to get in and out.

Deer are being killed every year by illegal poaching which I believe is on the increase.

    More on 7D MKII

Why oh why does the MP count have to be continually increased? All the extra MP will be wasted unless you have the absolute best L glass.

    Deadly 60 on a mission Sun 24/2/2013 BBC1 Pt's 1/8 -18.05-18.35pm

Mr Irwin (rest his soul) was actually kissed by said most venomous snake in the world on one of his shows. He was lying down looking at it and the snake came right up to his face and flicked its tongue out which touched his cheek. :eek!: Interesting thing here about some of the world's most...
