    We had a single Honey Buzzard from the Welbeck watchpoint last weekend (22/5). Middle of the day would be best, but the weather over the next few days doesn't look ideal, best wait for a still sunny day for your best chance of seeing raptors. Also at least 7 Common Buzzards in the same area. Mike

    6+ Swifts at Kingsmill Res yesterday evening, plus the first Whitethroat back and now 2 singing Sedge Warblers. A very worn 2cy Kittiwake also ddropped in just before dusk and presumably roosted.

    I should say, i'm not sure that this bird was actually roosting. It was pretty alert for most of the time, and the fact that it was perched in the open, on the edge of a bush, would suggest it was merely resting. Mike

    These are the best photos. There is also some video footage, but i think it is probably too large a file to upload unless anyone knows another way? From what we can deduce, most of the diagonstic features of Steppe Grey are present on this bird apart from that it shows a dark bill.
