    Food for softbills

    Food for soft bills, get a sack of cheap dog food £6 for 15kilo, soak in boiling water till soft and put it out in small quantities so it gets eaten before it freezes. 20 blackbirds, 5 songthrush,2 piedwagtails and more starlings and sparrows than I care to count.

    Bino pocket.

    I find that the map pocket on my Paramo is exelent for sliping my binos in to keep them out of the weather and to stop them swinging about when negotiating the rough stuff.

    Costs

    The price of feed is spiraling out of control. I shall have to cut back on the amount I feed. Wheat £5.75/ bag £2.50 last year, sunflower harts £19 up from £15, bag of British finch £18.5/bag, peanuts up from £18 to £23. And all because they are turning it into Biofuel. Now thats progress.:C

    Autum

    My Virginia creeper is in its glorious scarlet autum colour. Fungi Lyophyllum Decastes witch acording to my book is an autum fungi is in large clumps in the garden. Looks like Summer has been canceled this year.

    Fogging

    Disease?

    Used my scope today to look at the birds feeding. Some chaffies have problems with thei'r leggs, the legs are twice normal thickness and look as if they have been dunked in concrete or porrige which has then dried to a white scab. No other symptoms and they seem healthy enough. I am aware of...

    Bought at a carboot sale a Nikon with the r/h eyepice pulled off and spindle bent. £10.
