    It's woodpeckers galore over here! i look out the window one second, a male northern flickers eating from the feeder, look away, and back again, a male red bellied! ive also gotten a flock of grackles since the snow storm.

    hawks have been busy today. today one took a pigeon out in the yard at school. everyone was so amazed that they were blocking the hallways.

    i havnt heard of someone around here having a house mouse problem in a while. i guess its because theres a high population of cats around here. we have a big cave cricket problem though. and i know that mousy stank my pet boy has plenty of that foul odor.

    Today at the feeder

    i looked out my window and found these guys in a tree down the block. i got confused because i noticed they were grackles. i guess the warm weather the last few days let them come back b/c i usually dont have grackles in the winter at all, although i did have a lone grackle in december.

    Window Decals

    im looking into these decals which are the same ones, cheaper, and come in different styles. i just had my first window collision fatality (a poor dark eyed junco) next time i order seed from there im buying those decals.

    usually robins eat berries in winter im pretty sure. strange though that you still have robins, i dont have any here on long island.

    Song Sparrow?

    Hi, i need help identifying this bird species. I've had them coming to my feeder for over a year now every winter and from what they look like i think they are song sparrows but i just want to make sure. The yellow is a piece of corn not his beak.

    A Question Or Two About Suet.

    if your not getting any birds to go at ur feeder, try smearing it onto a tree trunk. usually works since thats where the clinging birds usually are. i started out with that and it got the birds to know that suet was availible in my yard, and then they moved on to the feeder.

    actually the yellow-bellied sapsucker is a species of woodpecker! ive never seen one before christmas day and havnt seen once since either =\ anyway you could find some more information about it at animal diversity web

    normal birds, and then randomly out of no where, a yellow bellied sapsucker appeared on my seed feeder! best part of my christmas! seeing that bird today meant i have now seen every woodpecker in my area!

    White Breasted Nuthatch acting strange

    ive experienced a white breasted nuthatch eat under my feeder, just a few days ago, one of the two who visit me hopped off the feeder to "graze" underneath it like a sparrow, i was confused lol

    yea last night i purposely took down my squirrel baffle off of my feeder because i knew it would end up gone and my feeder broken. (even tho its already squirrel proof, i use it to keep the seed dry) Its still windy here on long island and really cold with the wind chill -__-

    same birds as usual. the big male red bellied woodpecker showed up today. and to my surprise a lone grackle. he should be south shouldnt he? he seemed a little raggity as well.

    normal visitors, at least 5 goldfinches, a red breasted nuthatch, juncos, doves, white throated sparrows, didnt see any chickadees oddly enough. a male downy woodpecker, i heard a red bellied in my tree as i left for school, and when i got home a massive northern flicker was waiting for me!
