    Hummer wannabe in NC

took this shot yesterday in my yard. Its the only one I got so I can't compare to anything else and the lighting wasn't the greatest. Could it be a Pine Warbler? He did remind me of a hummer wannabe the way his back is arched and the feet tucked in. Thanks for helping out

    Hazel and Mali bird

:t: Today I've seen and met the two coolest birds from Great Britain, (which, by the way they made proud) and I wish it could have been a longer visit. I hope they had as good a time as Pam and I did, and hope that whenever they're close by, they stop in, even if its only for a few hours...

    Strange Spring

Yesterday was the first sunny day in at least 3 weeks without rain and I finally got to take a few pictures. The strange thing about this spring is that I still have 2 dozen of Gold, House, and Purple Finches at my place. They are not supposed to be here, at least I never seen them that late...

Well, I have not posted anything on my homestead lately, so I figure I'll do it now. On the bird front its a whole different...

My new Homestead (Friday, 11 January 08)

Well I got good news and bad (sad) news The sad news was that I couldn't get there today because the cops had everything blocked off, looking for the Marine that's been missing for a month now. She was 8 months pregnant and I was hoping they find her alive and well somewhere. Now they say...

My new Homestead (Friday 4 Jan 08)

Well folks, it has been very cold and windy the past 2 days, and since I was freezing my butt off at the house, chasing a Ruby Crowned Kinglet and a Nuthatch around, and not getting very far, I decided to take a ride over there to see what's up. So, Pepper and me got over there and where right...

    Woodpeckers

I am extremely frustrated by the way they treated me today, with the red bellied male being the exception. I saw all 5 species that frequent my garden, matter of fact, I am looking at a Sapsucker and Hairy right now (well 5minutes ago) up in the willow tree, which still has to many leaves on...

    My new Homestead (Saturday)

Well, yesterday I did have a few beers and watched all my regulars (Downy and Red Bellied Woodpecker, Juncos, Cardinals, Titmice, Chickadees, Wrens, and Doves, but it was to dark to take pictures (did I tell you how much I hate daylight savings Time?). Oh, well, the Budweiser tasted good. Went...

My new Homestead (Saturday - Friday)

Well, not much happening at the homestead. Saturday we had a nice storm that brought a couple of trees down in my garden. One landed perfectly, missing all the feeders and fountains. Got to get my chain saw out. Went over the homestead and all I saw was a couple of vultures. A Omen? Sunday...

My new Homestead (Wednesday - Friday)

Got there late on Wednesday, and it was already too hot to do anything, so I just shot a few pics of a Brownheaded Nuthatch, and a Hairy Woodpecker, and went home. Thursday was almost a repeat of Wednesday, not much action, they seemed to be where I wasn't, and I got pretty frustrated. I heard...

My new homestead (Sunday - Tuesday)

    My new Homestead (Saturday)

Things are really looking up. What a gorgeous morning, the sun was shining, even the coffee tasted better. My new Homestead (Tuesday -Friday)

Well, I am feeling a little better about the whole thing. I went back and forth with the inspectors and we finally figured a way to place the house in the right spot (for them), but I had to cut a bunch of Hickory and Oak trees out, but we saved a lot too. I finally seen the first Northern...

Man, was it cold and windy this morning! My fingers and toes are still numb. I am not used to this anymore. I must be getting to old. Anyway, everthing is on hold! Seems I have 2 1/2 acres of land and right now I can't build my house, because of the septic tank and the repair area are...
