    North Central Texas Bird

I think this is a Vireo of some kind, but have never seen one other than in my books. Any thoughts?

    Bird in North Central Texas

I was at my lake house this weekend taking photos of birds that I usually see there. Spotted a Eastern Phoebe, which are fairly common here, sitting on a cable on a dock down by the water and took a photo, then spotted what I thought was another one on an electrical line much closer to me, but...

Two birds in North Central Texas

I took photos of two birds yesterday that I'm just not sure of what they are. One appears to be either a Gnatcatcher or a Flycatcher of some sort and the other is a water fowl that was diving down to feed off bottom of the shallow water close to shoreline in a lake. Photo was taken at great...

    Bird in North Central Texas

Was coming home from town and turned corner to get on road I live on and this bird was standing in the middle of the road. My first thought was it must be a young chicken because it didn't run to get away when I stepped out of my truck to take pictures and it wasn't any kind of wild bird I see...

    Bird in North Central Texas

Saw this bird at one of my feeders last Saturday here north of Fort Worth, TX and just couldn't decide what it was. The large beak made me think possible Grosbeak of some kind which would be a migrant if so. Also considered a female House Finch which I see quite often, but coloring just doesn't...

    Bird in North Central Texas

I saw a bird this morning flying to and from the ground from fence along the side of my garden. Typically, when I see a bird doing this around here, it's almost always an Eastern Phoebe and there was one of those in close proximity doing the same thing this bird was doing. However, this bird...

    Bird ID, North Central Texas

I had a bird sitting atop a dead tree limb yesterday that I couldn't quite make out due to it being cloudy and bird mostly in profile, but thought its profile looked different than the ones I normally see here at my house. Took photos, but even after extensive editing, they still weren't very...

Warbler ( I think ) in North Central Texas

Spotted this bird at my suet feeder this afternoon. At first glance, due to the gold color, thought it was a Goldfinch which are pretty common here this time of year, but then realized it wasn't. Don't get many Warblers here at any time of the year, but do see Yellow Rumps and Orange Crowned...

Gray bird at my bird bath in North Central Texas

Spotted this gray colored bird at my bird bath this morning and it has me stumped on an ID. Pretty sure it's not a female Cowbird which frequent my feeders due to shape of bill nor a Mockingbird due to lack of white wing bar. Thought maybe someone might have an alternative. Just don't think I've...

ID of bird feathers in North Central Texas

The other day, my son, who lives close to me asked me if I had seen a bird that appeared to be stuck in a hollowed out spot in a tree at the front of his lot. He Said only the wing feathers were sticking out and rest was inside the narrow opening. I checked it out this afternoon and all I could...

Bird at suet feeder in North Central Texas

Was watching birds yesterday for the Great Backyard Bird Count when this one flew onto one of my feeders, but left so quickly, I was not able to see him well enough to ID, but he returned this morning to feed on some peanut butter/lard concoction my wife makes and was able to get a decent photo...

Hawk at Hagerman Wildlife Refuge in North Texas

Had a friend send me this photo of a Hawk he photographed at Hagerman Wildlife Refuge and asked if I could ID it for him. Figured some of you would know.

    Hagarmen Wildlife Refuge, Texas

Been a while since I've been around water fowl and shore birds. Know I should know this one, but could use some help.

    Tanager in North Central Texas????

I had a bird in my backyard earlier today that I have never seen here before. My first impression is that its a Summer Tanager, but have never seen one live. Do know my location is within their range this time of year.

Yellow bird in North Central Texas

Have seen this bird two of the last three days in my backyard. I know I should know what it is, but just not sure. First time I've seen one here. Photo not focused very well, but figured it was good enough for someone to ID.

Hawk at Hagerman Wildlife RefugeNorth Central Texas

Have a photographer friend who took this photo at the Hagerman Wildlife Refuge in North Central Texas. He thought it was a Red-tailed Hawk when he saw it perched, but says it didn't have the red tail he was expecting when it flew. Wondering if it might be a Swainson. Suggestions welcome.

Water Fowl in North Central Texas

    South Texas Hawk

Saw this hawk about 50 miles south of San Antonio on trip home from the Valley. First thought was Red shouldered which I have plenty of where I live, but something makes me think it might be something else.

Birds seen in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas

Been a while since I've been out birding other than watching the ones that come to my backyard feeders in North Texas. Here are four that I welcome comments about regarding their ID's from trip I took to the Valley this past week.

    Hawk in North Central Texas

I was on my tractor shredding weeds and grass on a lot I own close to my house when this hawk landed in the top of a tree next to where I was working. All I had on me was my phone camera and took several pictures, none of which turned out very sharp. Bird didn't look like any of the Red Tails...

    Hawk in North Dallas Texas

I was sent this photo by niece. Bird sitting outside her office in Frisco Texas. Should know what it is, but just not sure.

Crow or Raven in North Central Texas

Know this is probably just a large Crow because my location should be out of normal range of a Raven, but shortly before this bird landed on my back fence, heard a bird making a croaking sound more reminiscent of a Raven than a Crow. This bird also seemed larger that the Crows I'm used to seeing...

New Bird at My House in North Central Texas

I'm assuming this is a Lazuli Bunting, but somewhat surprised that one would be here. Thought most of them winter on western coast of Mexico and didn't summer anywhere east of Western New Mexico. (Might help if I actually post a picture)
