Which path to choose
Hi George, My first DSLR was the D90.. and year and a half ago I got a D300s for £400 on Ebay, immediately felt the difference (build quality, frame rate etc) and then got the 300 F4 (New) to accompany it.. it's a really great combo as light enough to carry around all day and the close focusing... -

A new bird for me.. so when an Aussie refers to someone as a big galah, (I remember Alf from Home and Away tv soap saying it!) is this what they are comparing the person to??!! Cool shot of a cool bird regardless and thanks for commenting on my osprey pic.. :)- Kev23

Enjoying a winter's break
Despite seeing 100's of new species, a major highlight for me on my trip to Gambia in January was getting some great views of ospreys, something that I rarely have the chance to do living in South London. Wonder where this one spent the summer....?- Kev23

Definitely a whimbrel! Look at the bill, it appears "bent" rather than curved.. (like curlews) and you also have the white stripe above the eye (supercilium).. nice pic, skimmers are cool :)- Kev23

Stupid weekend trip to Tenerife, Canary Islands 26 - 27th July 2014
Cool, enjoyable report as usual Nick. I still refer to your "Spanish Steppes" one when going to Los Monegros and Ebro Delta at Xmas each year.. :) As for pigeons, I have just been to Colombia and hiked for 7 hrs with a 600mm lens and tripod and 300mm lens in a ruck sack up a really rocky track...- Kev23

Painted...
This is a female painted snipe that i had the joy of photographing in The Gambia during my trip in January.. end of day sunlight and the dark recesses of the mangrove cove made laying face-down in the mud worthwhile :)- Kev23
