    I just measured mine, and the length is 12 cm (centimetres) and not 12 mm (millimetres) ;) Great binoculars, no complaints other than that the focusser is stiffer than I would like. Top optics in their price class!

    Sand in Swarovski NL Pure 8x32

    First try running water. Any remaining then try and remove with a moist cotton bud, maybe even pick out some bits stuck in grooves using a moistened cocktail stick. Just be very careful, you don't want to rub grains of sand across the glass surface. I probably carry iyt this procedure about once...

    Swarocrumble - like that one. But leather armouring ? Surely it is sweaty to hold, and the strap looks very uncomfortable (stiff and makes your neck sweat)? They do have a stylish look, but for me it stops there. I prefer Swarocrumble - I am now on my second portion of the famous green delight...

    Oh dear..... These are twice the price of the rubber-armoured models. Didn't realise that leather was so pricey these days. They do look nice, but I don't see the point in buying these unless you are a collector of fancy-looking optics. Or maybe the leather covered versions are an alternative...

    Getting my first camera for birding. I have two options.

    That is a nice photo of the great spotted woodpecker, and shows what you can get in the way of nice shots using a superzoom. For those who don't like the prospect of lugging around a big DSLR and big lenses, then other alternatives are Micro Fourthirds cameras with a lens within your own...

    Rangefinding binoculars anyone using them?

    Always felt that RF binocs are a bit too cumbersome and bulky for birding. And they cost a bit more than a standard pair. I use a mapping app to estimate the distance from a bird (I usually have my phone with me).

    Budget camera to pair with Olympus 100-400mm Lens

    I don't think the 1.4x TC works with the Olympus 100-300mm lens. For what its worth, I find that using the 100-400mm on its own works fairly well, whereas coupling the 100-400 with a 1.4x Tc gives cr#p shots. To answer the question, go for the 100-400mm (which you already have). SW

    I am also an alu frying pan user. And it cost me nothing, the pan would otherwise have been thrown out. I sometimes screw the head so it is at the bottom of the bowl, yet often invert it and place the head on the pan base. The latter variant prevents the pan filling up with crap such as sand...
