    Pipits from Shaanxi Province

The middle pipit looks good for Blyth's based on back pattern, weak bill/beak and shape of median coverts and short tail and hindclaw.
  2. Lappkrabben

    Sri Lanka ID

The blueish tone are a digital artefact that can be shown in digi-pics when there are strong contrast in daylight. This bird are in shadow wich makes it looks more blue because shadow are grey/blue and the camera strengthen those blue/grey tones.
  3. Lappkrabben

    Sri Lanka

I think there are a split here (= used to be a subspecies of Plaintive C., now treated as a full species) called Grey-bellied Cuckoo. Although i'm not aware if Plaintive C. winters in Sri Lanka? (Grey-bellied C. breeds in India and perhaps also in Sri Lanka?)

    need ID Birds Pakistan

I also think the buzzard gives an impression of being heavy built (feet look thick) and darker trousers combined with that might fit Long-legged Buzzard better than Steppe Buzz. The stint looks spot on Temminick's. About the Wheatear i would like to know how to separate Variable Wh. from Pied...

    ID of these birds please...

I would say a B and W flycatcher female would have longer wings and the visual primaries are to short on this bird for BaW Fly. Primaries and colour fits Pied Bushchat better IMHO. But i have honestly no excperience of Phillipine birds so it might be some other species than PB.

    Warbler ID - India

That's good there are consensus here. I honestly got surprised when reading suggestion Whitethroat. But my knowledge of ssp. icterops are limited and i mean nothing negative with being surprised. Just an expression of my mind not being out of order when earlier reading and thinking what others...

Olivaceous Warbler ?? - Gujarat, India

Based on leg colour (black) over all shape in bill, head and winglenght (primary projection) i'd go for Chiffchaff. Here are a few pics of EOW; (Note leg colour, flat forehead amongst others) http://www.netfugl.dk/pictures.php?id=listpictures&species_id=667

    Warbler India

Now when i read you first comment again mäkpä it's even for me obvious that you meant all three yellow features :t: Sorry, i must have been tired this morning, more than usual that is ;) Thanks!

    Warbler India

Ok, good to know that AW don't show yellow chest. (i'd forgotten that) and i guess that you "mäkpä" by supercillium mean that AW don't show this long and broad supercill. (?)

    Warbler India

Looks ok for a Greenish Warbler (long supercillium, wingbar etc). Perhaps the green/yellow tone on chest support ssp. nitidus (?). Edit; on the other hand i just remember Arctic Warbler, but i'm not sure that species occur in India and i can't at the moment remember the features that separate...

Please help with new specie ID !

Black throat-patch support BNM, if there still were any doubts.

Kestrel or lesser K sweden april 2011

The spots on the center parts of the back (mantle) excludes Lesser Kestrel (since it's a male bird here) even if it was a 2cy (wich i cant say). If one looks at thumbnail the moustachial stripe looks strong. Common Kestrel for me.

    some more indian birds

Well Larry, it's all about the screen when it comes to computer birding... OT; i bought a new laptop a few month ago, (decied us for a one that starts with S and ends with sung) and choosed NOT to spend a few more $ on the better Macintosh (better screen). The other week here on Bf there was a...

    Squacco Heron part 2

If you want to show your photos i recomend you to create a gallery on the gallery pages. This is the question and answer section of the bird forum. Not a gallery.

    some more indian birds

Motmot and Amsdoc are right, one would see the longer bill, naked head and not pale window in the inner hand if it was a Egyptian Vulture. Black kite for me as well.
  16. Lappkrabben

    Nightjar ID

Does european Nightjar winter/migrate in Ethiopia? Not that i know much about Nightjars, let alone african species, but this one IMHO looks similar to a EN.
  17. Lappkrabben

    Egret, Singapore

Last pic clearly show it's an Intermediate Egret. If latest pic was published before/insetad of the one that originally was published first correct id would've come even faster. Not to be a wiseguy just an idea for next time. (and now for the wiseguy-part, first pic show a IE for me as well ;-)
  18. Lappkrabben

    Warbler, South Sinai, Egypt

Eastern Bonelli's Warbler ( Greyish head, weak supercillium, open face (big eye) and green wings (like Wood Warbler show)
  19. Lappkrabben

    Unknown, India.

Looked through some sights with pics of PW and i fully agree with PW. I remembered the contrast in superc. to be much stronger, but that might has to do with birds earlier in the autumn / other age classes? Obviously also the shape of this bird also fits PW better than BRW. I need more...
  20. Lappkrabben

    Finch? India.

    Agreed
  21. Lappkrabben

    Unknown, India.

Perhaps (my second alternative), i thought black/grey above the eyebrowe not strong enough, but my judgement might be wrong.
  22. Lappkrabben

    Southern grey backed shrike? India.

Based on location i would think ssp. arenarius
  23. Lappkrabben

    Unknown, India.

Difficult angle, more of a guess; Blyth's Reed Warbler
  24. Lappkrabben

    Babbler? India.

A bit unclear supercillium, but i would say Plain Prinia.
