    66A follow up. Questions

The retailer is a legitimate dealer for Kowa. I'll give them (Kowa) a call Monday to see if I can wrangle at least a warranty registration and removable aiming device. Heading out now to enjoy some migration views.

    66A follow up. Questions

It is good to know some other focussers have a bit of take-up. Thanks for that.

    66A follow up. Questions

Sounds like since I bought the scope without the eyepiece I don't get the first class treatment. Plain white box.. No paperwork... No removable aiming device, lenses cloth.... Nothin'. It was confirmed as new though so that's cool. Didn't get an answer on the warranty but it sounds like its got...

    66A follow up. Questions

For anyone purchasing the new Kowa 66A, or any of the new line, actually. Did yours come in a plain white box with 66a hand written on the side? No paperwork, no accessories. Just the scope in a bag, bubble wrap and a box.(?) Particularly concerned over the lack of a warranty card. Also...

    883 or 66a?

So, I chose the 66a sans eyepiece as I found a deal on one (TE-17w). I didn't order the scope til today so this not this weekend but next I'll be on the mountain spotting kettles and such. Will still go with bins but will have to spot from a little further away.

    883 or 66a?

Hi All, Very excited to be getting a new spotter and more so that Kowa has updated their Prominar line. Looking at the pricing I could get either the new 66a or the older 883. I realize it'll come down to personal choice and I likely can't go wrong with either but I'd still like some well...

How to tell LX from LXL from serial #

Sure enough. My 8x32 LX serial is a 201xxx. I think a part of my confusion was that my 8x's are also missing the badge over the prisms. I suppose as long as the L after the fov is consistent, and the badge is actually present, there's no problem in deciphering . Thanks so much!!

How to tell LX from LXL from serial #

Awesome. Thanks for the input. I do know HG was sold over in England/Europe and LX was for North America. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. So I suppose my pertinent question is whether the "700" was applied as serial numbers before the "L" lighter version came out. I have the 8x32 in HG/LX...

How to tell LX from LXL from serial #

Hi, I'm looking for an older Nikon LX in 10x32, not the LXL. Found one or two where the box says one thing but the bins are supposedly the newer version. Anyone happen to know the serial numbers that will differentiate for me? Thanks

New kid on the block.. Nightforce

Ah, Yes but taste is truly indisputable. Just look at the clothing designs people wear nowadays (or any-a-days actually). Also, you must consider the main demographic this scope is set-up for. For some, pure functionality is sexy as all get-out. (myself included). I'd much rather an ugly scope...

New kid on the block.. Nightforce

Hopefully they took a good scope and made it better. I'd like to think they would have built it from the ground up but hope springs eternal on that one. Surprised to see you even looking at this Paul. Is the Kowa 77 not working out for you? No, nothing like that. I absolutely love the Kowa...

New kid on the block.. Nightforce

I'm a bit surprised no one has mentioned the new offering from Nightforce. http://nightforceoptics.com/ts-82-xtreme-hi-def-20-70x-spotting-scope/ If their reputation has anything to say this should be one heck of a scope. Kind of pricey but the durability alone should make up for that. I guess...

I can hear it but can't see it in the NE U.S.

Nice!! Just sent the clip to The Falcon, (Thanks again Josh) and that makes the second (Thanks Mike). A quick google for a sound match and there it is... Prairie warbler! Now I just need to get out there with some binoculars and time not working. Life list #203! Thanks everyone! Paul

I can hear it but can't see it in the NE U.S.

Hi All, I was hoping to download a short clip of a bird I keep hearing on the job site but all I get is "invalid file" so I suppose we try the old fashioned way and describe it as best I can. I work construction and currently am in a wooded hilly area (Northern Connecticut). I would say...

Difference between EDG I and II

I really wish I had that kind of time right now because I do enjoy these forums. "No difference in optics." Furthers the cause. Thanks Guys!

    Easy viewing 10X's

As I remarked on another site to someone asking about the Peregrines> "Probably one of the "biggest" views I've experienced. Feels like you can walk right into them." Not specifically descriptive as far as relaxed views go but "Hey". Love me some Peregrine XP's.

    review of Docter BGA 7x40

A few things: a) I'm wondering if Doctor phase or silver coats any of their prisms. I looked a bit and found nothing. Maybe they just haven't gotten there yet. B) Not sure if its the same company but they already make prisms http://www.docteroptics.com/en/Products/Prisms.html C) Lastly: I'm...

    Got my Peregrine XP's!

Still amazed! Took them up to the Hawk tower on a clear sunny day. A week late so not many birds but enough to see if their intended purpose will be accomplished. Flying colors here folks! (Maybe some pun intended.) The resolution is more than outstanding! Brought a bald eagle in closer than my...

    Got my Peregrine XP's!

There's quite a bit to absorb in those threads so it may take some time for me to respond with anything resembling coherence. Very limited fun time now that school's back in session. I did however get a few more minutes in the field with the XP's. A couple more observations. 1) These Steiners...

    Got my Peregrine XP's!

Not quite sure what to write about them but a couple of observations stick out. 1) These things are incredibly sharp. Even after you reach that satisfactory focus point you turn the knob and it gets even sharper! 2) Compared them between my Nikon HG 8x32, Zen EDI 8x43 and Fujinon 7x50. Just...
