    Yellowhammer ? Northern Greece!

Cirl Bunting for me. Compact with short, clear streaking on breast and belly and distinct head pattern.
  2. C

    Bunting, Spain

Corn Bunting for me, due to the head pattern, bolder streaking on flanks and bill structure.

    Water pipits (Central Spain)?

About the rump colour I uploaded pictures of two different Water Pipits from Bulgaria, taken in December, 2015. Actually, I don`t remember any Water Pipit with such good difference between rump and mantle in the winter season here.

    Water pipits (Central Spain)?

All three Water Pipits for me. For Rock Pipit I expect darker birds (incl. underparts), less obvious supercilium (more conspicuous eye ring) and darker bill. For me rump is variable.

    Water Pipit,North-West Greece

I think it`s a Meadow, based on finer and clear cut streakings.

    Buntings from Kazakhstan.

I think, that first three birds are Pine Buntings. Culmen is not straight enough and the bill looks grey for Rustic. Maybe and the last bird is Pine.

Hello, Can you help me with the ID of these Falcons? I think, that they are Hobby /second bird juv. with pale tipped flight and tail feathers/. The videos are from today. https://youtu.be/5FgBKcCFubw https://youtu.be/21jgUBaNTTM Thank you!

    Yellowlegs confirmations, Ottawa Canada

I think both are greater. Compare the legs in these two species: http://www.gepog.org/sites/default/files/phototeque/Tringa%20melanoleuca%20flavipes%208_09_12%20%C3%A9tang%20guat.jpeg http://www.birdingazores.com/photos/yellowlegs.jpg

    Lesser Whitethroat ssp. ?, Bulgaria

Thank you, Grahame! It seems, that the white on tail is better for ID, than the 2nd p. However, good explanation about the shorter 2nd. p. in ssp. curruca and how to deal with it gives Williamson`s Guide. Will try to get better shots in the next observations.

    Common Buzzard, ageing, Bulgaria

Is it not too early for well developed juvs.?

    Common Buzzard, ageing, Bulgaria

Hello, Can you confirm imm., maybe 2cy CB for the first pic (bulging secondaries and not well developed trailing edge)? I think, that the second bird is ad. CB with much more wide trailing edge. Both pictures are from yesterday. Thank you!

    Marsh Warbler, Bulgaria

Yes, Andy, rare habitat for our region too.
  19. C

    Lesser Whitethroat ssp. ?, Bulgaria

OK, I will start with the light upperparts, contrasting grey utc and maybe short pp and extensive white on t6 for the first bird. I don`t need exact ID of these birds. Just want to know is there some chance for eastern curruca ssp., to do more careful observations this autumn.

    Marsh Warbler, Bulgaria

Yes Andy, Great Reed Warbler, which you can hear singing in the background, is common in this area, but the bird in the video is different species. Thank you Lou, since this is rare habitat for this species I want to be sure!
