    Conquest Spotting Scope

For what it's worth, Optics Planet shows these as expected in March 2015. I'm very interested to see more about these.

    Opticron's new Travelscope

Wow, great videos, Frank! I'm very impressed by the quality! The MM3 is on my radar, for sure!

Conquest HD compared with Vortex Viper HD?

The Vortex Viper HD is a great binocular, and I think is a great choice at it's price point. I have tried it side by side with the Zeiss Conquest HD (both in 10x42) and I preferred the Zeiss Conquest HD. It seemed more clear and brigher to me, and just ergonomically felt better. I do like the...

What did I miss? Terra ED???

Very interesting info! Thanks for sharing!

Here are the new Victorys: Victory HT

I don't see why the HTs wouldn't be amazing for birders. It's obvious that their initial marketing seems to be aimed at Hunters, but I see no reason to believe that the HTs would somehow not be good for birding because of this...purely a marketing strategy. With the exception of the Steiner...

How long before a premium Chinese binocular?

In the Cellular phone world, the arguably best phones currently are the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple iPhone. Samsung is a Korean company and the iPhones are made in China. Obviously, Apple has implemented high quality control and the design and innovation are done at their office in...

    hawke ED X Conquest HD

I've only compared the Conquest HD with the Vortex Viper HD, and I preferred the Conquest HD. It seemed clearer, sharper image, and brighter to me. It just felt good looking through them. It's best to try different ones and see which one looks and feels right to you. (sometimes easier said than...

    Leupold BX-4 McKinley

I had wondered if these McKinleys would be similar in the bino line as the Kenai is in their spotter line, since they're both HD, and leaving room in the future for a flagship golden ring bino. However, the Kenai is a BX-2 and the McKinley is a BX-4, so I suppose not. Very interested to see a...

What did I miss? Terra ED???

It doesn't matter to me where they are made...as long as they're not telling me they're made somewhere, when in fact they are not. If it says made in China and it looks good, I'll by it. If it says Made in Japan and looks good, I'll buy it. If it says Made in Germany, but it's really made in...

What did I miss? Terra ED???

This is all very interesting to say the least. In the Zeiss Conquest HD thread here, Gary did specifically state that the Zeiss Conquest HD definitely do have ED glass and definitely are made in Wetzlar, Germany. I have no problem with Japan optics, as long as it's labeled as such. I do have a...

    Zeiss Factory Wetzlar

We'd all like to have binoculars designed, built, and assembled 100% in Germany by 100% German made products. However, we'll never really know what exactly "Made in Germany" means in relation to where materials come from, where they are assembled, etc. At the end of the day, I suppose it really...

    Zeiss Factory Wetzlar

Interesting...I thought the Conquest was supposed to be using an exclusive, brand new, never before used glass.

    HT's in August...ooops.... September

I'd let your eyes determine which bino is appropriate...not a corporate marketing team. Many hunters have known for years that if they wanted info on the best binos...find out what birders were using...no matter if the binos were marketed at birders or not. I suppose hunters may put a higher...

    Choices 10x or 12x?

Unless you're going to be using a tripod, I wouldn't go as high as 12x. It will be difficult to hold steady. In 10x50, you can also check out the Meopta Meostar, Pentax SP or ED, or Minox BL (10x52), Steiner Nighthunter (10x56).

    Minox MD 50

I had the Minox MD50 and returned it. It is built really well, but I was not impressed with it optically and the eye relief when zoomed was not good. I don't wear glasses either. I would think for someone who does where glasses, the eye relief would not be enough. I'd look at the Leupold Golden...

    Minox German BL 8x42s?

So, do we know if the German BLs are any different. Minox website says they are, "Equipped with high-resolution high-tech specialized glass." Is this some sort of different glass than was used in the previous BL models? Are the materials exactly the same, only put together in Germany or is...

    Kruger Optical

I had them as well and because of the ginormous eyecups, they would not fit my face. View seemed ok to me, but I think I had one of the older ones with sloppy focus.
