    8x or 10x magnification

I sometimes find a bird to be just a bit too distant for an ID with an 8, but I can get it with a 10. I've carried a 10 lately, but it's getting colder too so more open county birding. On some trips, I wasn't able to take a scope so I just took a good 10 with me.

    8x32's....Cabelas Euro HD/Gold Ring HD

Nice review - thanks! The focus on my 10x42 was really stiff at first too - but it got much better.

    Roofs with large ER....

Might be worth adding the Minox HG & APO HG 8x43 as well. They have 19.5mm and noticeably more usable ER than some 20mm others, including the Swarovision and Zan Ray Prime.

    Binoculars / Monocular / Scope under $25 :(

As for, http://www.amazon.com/Vivitar-CS850-50-Binocular-Black/dp/B00351VXJ8 I've seen very similar ones to these in real life (won them) and I wouldn't recommend. The suggestions by Eitan & Frank look good, if you can afford them. If you could somehow get $100, I'd get these while you can...

    Zhumell Nova ED 8x42

Thanks for posting about this, FrankD. The Nova is very optically impressive for $100 to say the least and they seem pretty well built too. I like them much better than the Ultra Legend HD that I tried a few years ago as well as the Caldera.

    Easy viewing 10X's

I'm never quite sure what relaxed view means as I tend to be hyper, but the Nikon EDG is great. It has good color, good sharpness, hardly any CA - even in the winter, a flat field, minimal "cupid's bow"* distortion, long eye relief and a focus that's not too slow. From what I've seen, I'd rate...

So sharpness is changing towards the edge...

I think with field curvature, if you turn the focus a bit it will look clear - but then the center will be a bit out of focus. If it's other issues, you won't be able to get the edges sharp even when you try to focus a bit. You can have a combination of issues, though.

    Review: ZEN Prime HD

How big of a difference? I can't seem to find any in mine.

    Review: ZEN Prime HD

Unequal balance? Like one barrel not as sharp as the other? Pretty sure I didn't see that in mine - will have to check further.

    Prime Rainguard???

Yeah, the rainguard is a little tight on the Prime. ^^ If mine sell, I'll include a pot of water and some potato's. o:)

    High-end binocular advice much needed!

That's a lot of info ^ :king: Thanks - I forgot about that review:. http://www.bestbinocularsreviews.com/Minox8x43HG-66.htm The only thing to note is that it is for the non ED glass version, not the "APO" one, which is even better in the image quality dept. There's a review on the APO...

    High-end binocular advice much needed!

After looking through over a dozen binoculars, I bought an APO HG as my first high end one and I really like it. They are indeed small and light. The build quality is also very, very impressive and sturdy. They also have a no fault warranty in the US & I tend to think they have an unofficial one...

WIN Opticron Countryman HD Binoculars worth $500 (US / Canada Only)

    1. Sharpness, at least in the majority of the FOV. 2. Lack of CA. 3. Long eye relief. Favorite dealers are Binoculars.com, CameralandNY.com and Eagle Optics.

    Meopta 'Extra Lens'

Meopta had told me that they don't use field flatteners. :eek!:

    What besides birds?

It's not odd at all, but I've never seen anyone else train watching (or is it more properly termed spotting?) have any sort of binoculars. No idea why, they certainly are useful... Also, almost every forest preserve I can think of near me is right by railroad tracks. So one day a few weeks ago...

    What besides birds?

I think we'd be lost without them. :king:

    What besides birds?

Only when there's no birds in sight to look at!

Binos from Cabelas-Euro HD or Conquest HD

I have the Euro HD and I tried the Conquest HD. Get the Euro HD if you want much better control of CA, and a bit sharper image. Get the Zeiss if you want sharper edges of the FOV. The Zeiss also has slightly more eye relief.

    Binoculars recommendations for eyeglass wearers?

The thinner the glasses, the less eye relief you will need as the binocular can be placed closer to your eyes. Eye relief is basically the max distance you can hold the binoculars away from your eyeballs and still see the full field of view.

    Binoculars recommendations for eyeglass wearers?

The best ones I have found (out of 15) for long eye relief are the Steiner Peregrine XP in 8x or 10x and Minox HG/APO HG in 8x. They have 20mm and 19.5mm, respectively. The eyepiece lenses are not recessed far at all so the actual eye relief you get is very good. But note, these are $1500 dollar...

    Review: ZEN Prime HD

I knew I forgot to post something... They are the 10x. I do use them with glasses, which is good because the oculars are a little large.

    Review: ZEN Prime HD

I got my prime's and there's a lot to like about them. However, I seem to be noticing a pretty shallow depth of field where I have to adjust the focus a lot. I don't have a lot to compare to except the Euro HD, which are better in this regard. I'll try to have some specific examples tomorrow...

    Zeiss Conquest Hd 10x42

I saw a good amount of CA in them & I really can't stand CA. Other than that, very nice.
