Spent around 90 minutes at the Moors this afternoon. Nothing else to add really apart from a Cetti's Warbler that was calling and jumping around on the snow close in front of the West Hide.

Barn Owl I spent an hour in the main Flashes Hide and was impressed by the good numbers of Avocets and Lapwings. It's a busy place! At around 5.30 I moved to the Cuckoo hide hoping for the Barn Owl to put in an appearance. At 6.04 it flew in front of the main hide and in front of us, turning...

Had a good session on the reserve today. Nothing outstanding, but we saw a female blackcap. We also had 3 nuthatches. I thought it seemed like a long time since I had seen nuthatch here. It turns out that it is 2 days short of 25 years!

Well done, some cracking, sharp images. I particularly like the Stock Dove composition, a much under-rated bird.

I played it this afternoon and posted it on Facebook but I get the "not currently available message" now. It's a shame as there was some decent footage of the birds. Maybe they only leave the latest edition of the program on the iplayer?

Flycatching Waxwings Whilst enjoying the Waxwing Experience a few of them appeared to be fly-catching. Is this a regular phenomenon for Waxwings?

Elephant Hawk Moth I saw a friend tonight who told me that he photographed the caterpillar of an Elephant Hawk Moth at the end of last week at the Moors. He said it was about 6 inches long and only identified it when he got home to check his books. I have little knowledge of moths myself so do...

Great shots. Is it just me or does the bottom bird in photo 3 appear to have metal ring on its left leg? It would be pretty difficult to read the number but fascinating to find where it was ringed. It would probably have been a pullus.
