    ref-the gullbilled tern i believe(second hand)that Killian Mullarney has i.d. it as a juv.sandwich tern i was inclined towards juv. roseate tern but i wouldnt argue with Killian

    Not claiming the pom skua not 100% sure on it 164 without the pom. i think Gerry should go well over 170 as he is missing some of the gettable ones that i have like snow bunting,short eared owl,purple sand,curlew sand,black tern,bonxie,to name just a few. i would think ill struggle to get to 170...

    flock of about 20 crossbills in the mullahattin/jenkinstown area today. a cuckoo yesterday in the same area.

    There appears to be an osprey hanging around the blackrock/lurgangreen area, thats at least the 3rd report in 9 days.no sign of it today while i was there.a 1st summer little gull & 5 scaup were the best.an adult little gull still at the docks & one of the 1st winter iceland gulls at cruisetown...

    well done with the pics.a second sighting within 8 days, presumably of the same bird, in the breeding season.makes you wonder, at the very least. i dont know, but would a male who had lost his partner go walkabout,but how far would he wander at this time of the year it must be scores of miles...

    Derek,you done very well to get that shot of the spotted fly, myself and Peter tryed for over 2 hours to get a pic, without joy. male crossbill was seen breifly today also at mullahattin,landing on top of a tree for about 10 seconds
