    New Sigma 150/600

Bought a second copy of the Sigma Sports and (again) compared side-by-side with my Tamron 150-600 on my 7D2. Same subject, conditions, settings. Used liveview focusing to avoid micro-AF issues. On tripod with cable release. Multiple shots each time and picked the best of each batch...

    New Sigma 150/600

No Mike, it wasn't Amazon. It was from an Italian photographic dealer on Ebay. Got a good price due to the Euro exchange rate. But then the lens IQ was disappointing, so it went back for a refund. Left me out of pocket due to the shipping costs! But still tempted to try another copy of the...

    New Sigma 150/600

Jeff - I just recently sold my 70D and bought a 7D2. The comparisons (Sports v Tammy) I did last week were on my new 7D2. So "70D" issues can't be to blame. Still think I must have bought a soft copy of the Sports. May try buying another one.......

    New Sigma 150/600

Jeff - those are great for 840mm with the TC. I think the Sports I bought (and sent back) must have been a soft copy as it was certainly no sharper than my Tammy. Think I will wait a little while and then buy another copy of the Sports from a different source!

    New Sigma 150/600

Quick query guys. Does AF micro-adjustment affect Live-View focusing? I read that the latter uses the main sensor rather than the separate AF sensor(s), so is unaffected by any AFMA issues. is that right? If so, then when comparing lenses - if I use LiveView focusing on both lenses, it...

    New Sigma 150/600

Jeff, you say you have been helping a friend set up his Sigma Contemporary. Have you had a chance to do any side-by-side comparisons of IQ at 600mm on the two Sigma lenses? (i.e Sports vs. Contemp).

Sigma UK response on Sports vs Contemporary For info - I had asked Sigma UK for their comments on the Sports vs Contemporary IQ debate. This is what they said. Technical Support said: "The sports version has superior performance and build quality although if weight and price are a factor...

    New Sigma 150/600

Jeff great shots. Are you using the Siggy Sports hand-held, on a monopod or a tripod? And do you find it possible to take it on a walk and use it hand-held? cheers, Nick

    New Sigma 150/600

Any news yet on the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary? Isn't it due out this month? Do we know its weight yet? Similar to the Tammy 150-600? I read a post somewhere on the internet saying that the IQ in the centre of the frame is intended to be as good as on the Sigma Sports, but less good in the...

Which 1.4x converter are you using with the Siggy, Chris?

    New Sigma 150/600

Wonder if a Kenko 1.4x TC would work with the Siggy 150-600 and a 7D2?

    New Sigma 150/600

Has anyone tried using a Siggy Sport 150-600 at 600mm with a x1.4 TC and a Canon 7D2? If so, how is the AF and the IQ?

    New Sigma 150/600

I already have the Tammy, which can readily be carried on a walk and used hand-held. But I am interested in adding a better quality (ie heavier) lens for hide use etc. My thoughts are to try the new Sigma Sports 150-600, or else buy a second-hand Canon 600mm f4 IS Mk1.
