    Spotted Flycatcher was singing from a tree Esk side of the grounds near to the small pond . There's a clear felled area with hardwood trees still standing Landranger 66 ref. 587 217. Never thought of it being early, that said I usually catch up with them spring birding down south first . Rik

    Had a walk around River South Esk at Penicuik yesterday then around through the grounds of Penicuik House to Lowries Den. Highlights included Lesser Whitethroat, 4 Chiff Chaff, 3 Nuthatch, 7 Blackcap, 6 Willow Warbler, and a Spotted Flycatcher. No Wood Warbler tho . Maybe still a bit early.

    Trains run hourly to Musselburgh from Edinburgh Waverley , or bus numbers 30 ,26, and 44 run from Edinburgh Princes Street to Musselburgh . Number 129 runs through to North Berwick.     Went up to Dunsapie loch for 9.30 this morning and Iceland Gull not there, looked at st Margarets and wasn't there either, so went down to Duddingston and caught it in the air briefly. finally saw it back at Dunsapie at 12.00 ish but very flighty .

    I was in Aberdeenshire last weekend and there was a bit of skua movement on the Sat past Stonehaven 10 Arctics and a bonx in the morning then nothing else , all fits and starts .
