I recently got Hawks in Flight by Pete Dunne, David Sibley, and Clay Sutton. I know some of you said the Bald Eagle is a coward like bird. I read this in the book in the chapter on eagles -
With the loss of California’s wild condors, the Bald and Golden eagles are the larges birds of prey in North America. They have, in addition, at least one singular characteristic. It has been observed that most birds of prey look back over their shoulders before striking prey (or shortly thereafter); predation is after all a two-edged sword. All hawks seem to have this habit, from the smallest kestrel to the largest Ferruginous - but not the Eagles.
