The stongest Talons? (2 Viewers)

I recently got Hawks in Flight by Pete Dunne, David Sibley, and Clay Sutton. I know some of you said the Bald Eagle is a coward like bird. I read this in the book in the chapter on eagles -

With the loss of California’s wild condors, the Bald and Golden eagles are the larges birds of prey in North America. They have, in addition, at least one singular characteristic. It has been observed that most birds of prey look back over their shoulders before striking prey (or shortly thereafter); predation is after all a two-edged sword. All hawks seem to have this habit, from the smallest kestrel to the largest Ferruginous - but not the Eagles.

Having read this on-going thread for the last few months, i keep coming back to the same old question, sincerely:

why are you arsed?

In terms of the struggles that many of our birds of prey are currently dealing with this "top trumps" kind of nonsense helps no-one.

Why do we care about the grip strength of birds of prey and care less about the enviroment we should protect so that they can prosper?

Largest Beak/strongest talons/LONGEST TALONS/Longest yellow talons/shortest yellow talons bla bla bla.

it`s pathetic-we`il all be comparing our Rottweiller pups in Burberry blankets before you know it.

cheers

That's incredibly fascinating. I could never come up with a good definitive answer to the difference between eagles and hawks. some eagles look like hawks and may even be dwarfed by some of the larger hawks. Some hawks have feathers on their legs. This would help me to give a good answer to the question which I think is an interesting one.

Thank you I appreciate your concern.

Most people today the environmentalist, nature lovers and even ordinary people cares and think about our environment and thank GOD people are responding and more aware now on what’s happening to our world the climate change, pollution, green house effect etc. which leads to the brink of extinction to many animals not only birds even low lying Islands like the Maldives (rising sea level)… what or which bird species is not endangered today? You can count them with your fingers only a few. Just because we were talking about talon strength it doesn’t mean we do not care about the protection and preservation these magnificent animals.

We love and care for them and I think by nature people tend to talk and compare things just like comparing the largest land animals, fish in the ocean or fastest cars and jet planes etc. there is nothing wrong with it. It may be non-sense on your part or thinks it helps no one but to my point of view its not. (Topic: The Strongest talons) There are many topics in this forum you can read and also learn something about it like on which species of eagle is the largest, longest, heaviest and strongest etc. What condition are they in, where you can find them. It also helps; it makes people informed and aware about the condition of the specie, which leads to the conservation and protection of the specie.

Cheers!

Apologies, i left my PC on a few weeks ago whilst having a few drinks and a mate of mine thought it would be "hilarious" to leave a few messages on my "behalf".

Think he also left one on the Golden Eagle poisoning thread.

I personally appreciate all things to do with wildlife and conservation and that all information garnered can only be beneficial.

Again apologies, and never leave you`re PC unattended whilst still logged on.

CHEERS!!

My two cents:
-Harpy eagle
-Philipinnes monkey eagle
-Crowned eagle
-Martial eagle
-Golden eagle
-Great horned owl
-Steller's sea eagle
-Bald eagle

I am only talking about pound to pound grip strength/
