Hi All,
I saw this eagle spp today at 1,300m asl over forest.
My thinking is that it is probably an imm Mountain Hawk-eagle, but I can't convince myself that it's not an imm. Bonellis (rare here).
It looks rather long-winged for a Spizaetus (but that might just be linked to the missing primary) and long-tailed - but if it were a Bonelli's should it not have a diagnostic dark line along the underwing greater and primary coverts (?), and the tail would be evenly barred.
If it is a hawk-eagle I think the tail is indicative of Mountain over Changeable.
Any comments welcome.
Thanks
Dave
