Down At Dungeness (1 Viewer)

Yesterday I spent the morning down at Dungeness/Denge Marsh.
Haven't been down that way for some time, so it was a good opportunity. The weather was a bit mixed - milder than it could have been, but a breeze coming off the coast. Sometimes cloudy (did drizzle to start with) but sometimes the clouds cleared to reveal blue skies.
First thing was a lake full of coots and capsized ducks (sorry, my duck foo is not all it could be - ducks are ducks to me, so I don't know what they were):

There are several breeding pairs of marsh harriers down this way, and I saw the following bird out hunting toward Lydd:

It was clearly a day for raptors because I also got this snap of a buzzard:

And best of all was this kestrel who seemed quite bold and let me get quite close:

Then on my way back I saw a flash of red hopping about a hedge. Turned out to be a linnet:

Nice pictures - thats a very pale adult female marsh harrier...don't think I've ever seen so much white on the upperwing coverts, although it does vary a lot between individuals.

Good going to get a summer plumage Linnet in December! Not a pic from earlier in the year??

Yes. Mea Culpa.
I linked to the wrong picture from my Flickr account and just couldn't be bothered to go back and change it.

To make up for my laziness, here's the correct picture from the day:

The ducks are Mallards :t:

Brilliant - cheers!
