The lower two are good enough to be Cackling Geese?

Thanks.

Okay this may sound stupid but how do you tell the difference from a Canada Goose and Cackling Goose? I see a lot of Canada Geese in Las Vegas and am noticing that they look pretty much alike.

You can see in the photo in the initial post that the two cackling geese in the foreground are not only obviously smaller than the Canada geese behind but the heads are smaller and more rounded and the bill much shorter and generally smaller / daintier.

Except for the extreme forms (Minima & Aleutian Cacklers vs "full-size" Canadas), separating the two species can sometimes be a real bear.

Here's a couple of references. Good luck with them--;)

[Edit] And here for good measure are some photos of the various forms I've taken in Reno over the years--
