From personal interest, I'm wondering whether anyone knows of genetic work on the three subspecies of Turdus torquatus, nominate, amicorum and alpestris.
They all appear to differ in their wintering and breeding ranges, and subtly appear to differ in plumage detail. Does anyone know of differences in DNA and vocalisations? My rather meagre researches so far have revealed that Stejneger certainly considered torquatus and alpestris separate species in the mid-19th century.
Cheers
