I live in Darlington, UK.
anyone live here too and anyone seen any interesting birds here recently?
I'd love to see nuthatch, waxwing, redwing, fieldfare or brambling!

Hi, I live not too far away, and I saw a flock of Waxwings heading SW, some touching down for about a minute. I think there was a Brambling at RSPB Slatholme recently. Saltholme also has had flocks of over 400 Fieldfare and Redwings recently, and some Waxwings have stopped there I believe. There is also some Long Eared Owls and Water Rails showing well at Saltholme- some more info is on my Blog.

We've a few members living in Darlington. They occasionally post on the Durham Birding thread but at least read it regularly. Maybe worth posting your query on that thread.

I used to visit Darlington quite often but haven't for a while. South Park has mature trees wide a wide variety of birds including Treecreeper and Nuthatch plus there's a captive collection there of some exotic species. A local Nature Reserve off Whessoe Road used to attract Brambling in winter plus Siskin and Redpoll. The spring fed ponds also have a selection of ducks and I've seen Woodpecker and Kingfisher. Waxwing can turn up just about anywhere there's berries. There was a sizeable flock in Darlington town centre last week.

Darlington Waxwings

There have been flocks of waxwings down Salters Lane North on and off for a couple of weeks, check the bushes out just past Harrogate Hill Club and then the trees down the left hand side past the railway. Good for redwing there too.
Nuthatch arent too difficult to see either - as Ian says South Park, and also Crematorium, generally most places where there are large mature deciduous trees. Low Barns at Witton Le Wear is brilliant for nuthatch at the moment. I live in Darlington myself and know the area well PM me if you want any more information
