Waxwings !! (1 Viewer)

Saw my very first Waxwings today !! There have been a few reports of various sized flocks in Crosspool in Sheffield and one or two other places in that general area. I contemplated taking a drive out during the Xmas break to see if they were still hanging around. I did my usual bit this morning and topped up the sunflower seeds for the Goldfinches who hang aroung in the tree beside my house, after filling the feeder I came back to the top of the garden to see if they were there and was greeted with a wonderful view of 5 Waxwings sitting proudly at the top of the tree !!! Beautiful looking birds and they were even kind enough to wait around until I ran inside and grabbed my Vipers for a better view. I dont know if they usually visit my area, (High Green) or if it was just luck that I was in the right place at the right time and they were just passing through. Certainly made my day though ... Nice of them to pop in and see me !!

Merry Xmas and a happy New Year to you all !!

Dave.

Cool Dave, so happy for you! I saw my first a month ago, stumbled across them out of the blue and was as happy as you are. I went back the next day hoping to get some better photos but they were not there and haven't seen them since. Hope yours return for you to enjoy. :)
