Redpoll ID (1 Viewer)

It seems the Redpoll question has cropped up on a regular basis in this forum, but it’s probably easiest if I show you the picture and ask the question.

I assumed this was a Common Redpoll (my bird book separates Common from Mealy, is that correct?), but two people have suggested it may be Lesser Redpoll; what do you think?

Three species:

Lesser Redpoll, Carduelis cabaret
Common (also known as Mealy) Redpoll, Carduelis flammea
Arctic Redpoll, Carduelis hornemanni

Your bird is a Lesser Redpoll.
 
That’s five in favour of Lesser Redpoll, so I’ve modified my site accordingly.
