Dear All, pls kindly share your opinions on this Redpoll - captured and ringed at Branta Birding Lodge Ringing Site by Pavel Simeonov on 17 November. If this is a Lesser Redpoll, this would be one of the first records in the country - so Pavel has asked me to double-check on this forum.
Further quote is from Pavel: Today, 17/11/23 we trapped a Redpoll, seemingly a very small Redpoll (cabaret or a hybrid)Siskin like in size or even smaller, though I must confess I find this bird confusing. Presumed 1cy immature or a female. Trapped and ringed at Branta Birding Lodge Ringing Site, Durankulak Lake, northeastern Bulgaria, presumed first record of nominate ssp. for Bulgaria (if Common Redpoll) and the 5th mention of the species for the country.
