Sanderling Darwin NT Australia (1 Viewer)

Just an earthbound misfit

Saw this Sanderling (?) near Darwin a couple of weeks ago whilst on holiday.
The yellow leg flag shows 22 and there is an unreadable metal band. Any ideas as to when and where it was ringed
thanks alan

Alan,

Probably banded in NW Australia. There is a leg-flag protocol guide here:
http://www.shorebird-network.net/PDFs/EAAF-Flagging-Protocol-EAAF-1Nov2010Review.pdf
which is out of date and does not match your bird exactly, but is otherwise useful.

You should please report your sighting online at:
http://awsg.org.au/wp-content/themes/AWSG/reportform.php

I have alerted Clive Minton, co-ordinator for North West Australia, Victoria and
South Australia to this thread and it may be that he can add more.

Hi phil. Just an update. I've now heard back from the Oz online recording people. Evidently the bird was first ringed in Oct last year less than 15 kms from my sighting location. However in may of this year it was recorded twice in Taiwan!
