I'm assuming that this is some sort of grasshopper or cicada. The photograph was taken in the Blue Mountains, NSW before the fires. I'm also assuming that it was one of the bugs making an ear-splitting noise.

I don't know, I do not live in Australia, all of my field guides are for the United States region where I live so I can't help you.

The green form of this cicada is called a Green Grocer, the yellow form is called a Yellow Monday, and the Blue Form is called the Blue Moon.
