Does anyone collect bird stamps? (1 Viewer)

I haven't had international mail in a while and I was wondering which country has the coolest stamps. I've seen some on the internet, but I'm curious if there are any twitchers/ bird watchers that collect bird stamps as well. Post your favorite, I just might be convinced to pick up a new hobby. :-O :-O

Collecting bird stamps is quite big in the UK. There are books on the subject, and some stamp dealers specialise in bird stamps.

When I was a little lad I was a stamp collector and when I got into birds I concentrated on bird stamps for a few years until other things took over. Still have my collection which will all be pre 1985 and maybe worth a bit.

As has been said, collecting those things is pretty big in the UK, though perhaps not quite so much in these days of nintendo/playstations etc:C

As well as stamps, many collectors also look out for postcards and ciggerette cards. It's the ciggerette cards that have some of the most apealing bird paintings etc, they have details about the birds printed on the back and often come in sets ~ having spent some time (before being a reformed character!) in antique auctions/collectors centres etc I used to see lots of them mounted up in frames etc, at the time they didn't really have the mass appeal for extortionate prices.

As for myself, i'm not really interesting in collecting anything, cept maybe muddy boot prints on my carpets;)
